Is the Pool Water Level Too High?
The general rule about pool water level is that the pool water level should be at the vertical middle of the pool skimmer opening. Some technicians advise slightly lower-this ensures that debris will stay in the skimmer where it belongs.
Generally though, pool water constantly evaporates (in the absense of regular rain), and there is a danger to your pool pump if the skimmer ever goes dry and air makes its way to the filter and pump. Modern pumps are forgiving, but it’s best not to risk it.
The safe bet is to keep your pool level on the high side, at the middle of the skimmer, or a bit higher.
