Automatic Pool Water Filler
How Automatic Water Fillers Work
The simplest sort of pool leveler is a pool filler. A filler works simply; it has 1) a sensor, and 2) a valve connected to a water supply.
The sensor monitors the water level, and when the level drops too low, a valve opens to allow water to fill the pool. Manufacturers such as Pool Sentry and Poolkeeper make relatively inexpensive pool fillers. The problem with pool fillers is that they do not drain your pool after a rainstorm, they only fill. Of course, an underfilled pool presents a danger to pool equipment (pool pumps that run dry can burn out), which an overfilled pool generally just gets dirty and is harder to clean.
If you are looking for a fully automated pool leveling system that fills and drains, you want an automatic pool leveler.
The Good and the Bad
Some of the problems with add-on pool water fillers is that they sit on the edge of the pool out in the open; some require hoses to be attached. This inelegant installation will frustrate neat freaks. If you are a frequent traveller, or typically like to ignore your pool, an auto-filler will keep your pool cleaner, and reduce risk to equipment.
